Lisa K. Rechkemmer, D.P.M., F.A.C.F.A.S.

Dr. Rechkemmer is originally from Iowa where she was a four sport high school athlete and three sport college athlete. She graduated from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 1992. She went on to complete her foot and ankle surgical residency training in Minnesota.

She came to Wheaton in 1995 and joined Instep Podiatry. As the owner and lead doctor the practice has expanded over the last two decades.  She has developed a strong  reputation over the years that brings patients from all over the Chicagoland area.

Dr. Rechkemmer treats all foot and ankle conditions and believes in educating the patient on their particular condition and also feels it is important for the patient to  participate  in their care. She is well known for answering all questions the patient may have regarding their condition and treatment options available. With her more than 20 years of experience she does do a number of second opinions and takes on many difficult cases. One of the things her patients appreciate is that surgery is not always her first approach to a problem. Conservative options are discussed prior to consideration of surgery.

More recently Dr. Rechkemmer has also focused her practice on Sports Medicine. She is a triathlete and three time Ironman which allows her to better understand the athlete. She treats many athletes of all ages and a variety of sports.  She sees a number of  runners who appreciate her thorough evaluation including gait analysis along with her ability  to communicate with them as an athlete herself.   Her philosophy  is to allow the patient to continue activity when possible and also to focus on ways to prevent injuries in the future.

Dr. Rechkemmer is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
